The US charges Russian Vladimir Kuznetsov with illegal export and conspiracy to export components and accessories for weapons from the United States to Russia, RIA Novosti reports.

It is noted that he expressly indicated an incorrect description of the contents of the parcels and hid these components. The prosecution suggests that 58-year-old Kuznetsov, who lives in Brooklyn, and other conspiracy members mailed items to Russia since February 2017.

Law enforcement authorities became aware of this scheme in May 2017. Having discovered in one of the items on May 22 that the contents did not match the description in the accompanying documents, law enforcement officers studied the history of Kuznetsov’s online orders, where they found the items found in the package. The situation repeated several times. His wife Marina Muller was also the sender. The recipients were people named Vadim Novikov, Dmitry Kuznetsov, and other people.

If guilty, he faces up to 20 years in prison.
