On March 18th, the Russian President Vladimir Putin removed the Governor of the Novosibirsk Region Vasily Yurchenko from his post due to the loss of confidence.
His powers and authority were supposed to expire in 2015. On the night of March 19th, the investigating authorities raided the apartment of the dismissed governor. Sources say that much publicized resignation is connected with the criminal case on the sale of land on the Chaplygin st., 54, in which the official is a witness.
The Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee in Nobosibirsk initiated the criminal case against Natalia Yurchenko, the ex-wife of the Governor of the Novosibirsk, on charges of violating immigration legislation.
