Corruption at spaceport Vostochniy
In September 2014, Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (IC RF) initiated two cases over embezzlement of public funds, allocated for spaceport Vostochniy’s construction, based on materials collected by the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) and Auditing Chamber. In October FSB and IC staffed conducted a joint search in offices of the Federal Space Agency, Dalspetsstroy and open joint stock company Ipromashprom – subsidiary of Roskosmos. Earlier, the former Head of Dalspetsstroy Yuri Khrizman and former chief accountant Sergey Ashihmin were places under detention within the case. They were faced with charges under Part 4 of Art. 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Misappropriation or embezzlement on a large scale conducted by a criminal group). At the end of November, another target of the case was arrested – chief project engineer on infrastructure of Eastern spaceport Sergey Ostrovsky (from the State Design Institute of Special Construction).
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin commented on the decision to liquidate the Federal Agency for Special Construction (Spetsstroy). The corresponding decree was signed today by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Prosecutor asked for 4.5 years of imprisonment for accused of embezzlement during construction of Vostochniy spaceport
On Tuesday, the Prosecutor asked the Meshchansky Court of Moscow to sentence former CEO of the company Stroykonstruktion C Anatoly Ryazanov, who admitted his guilt in the case of embezzlement of 1.18 billion rubles during construction of the East spaceport, to 4.5 years of imprisonment.
