Yury Chaika awarded a defendant in Arashukov case “for significant contribution to strengthening the rule of law”
A picture of Chaika and Ruslan Arashukov, who has been detained on charges of Swindling on an Especially Large Scale and Participation in an Organized Criminal Community, has been distributed on the Web.
Russian Prosecutor General Yury Chaika awarded Ruslan Arashukov, the cousin of Rauf Arashukov, who is detained on suspicion of murder, putting pressure on witnesses, and taking part in an OCC, with an honorary certificate “for a significant contribution to strengthening the rule of law.” The picture of Chaika and Arashukov has appeared on several Telegram channels. At the moment, Ruslan Arashukov has been detained in the case of Swindling on an Especially Large Scale (part 4 of Art. 159 of the Russian Criminal Code) and Participation in an Organized Criminal Community (part 3 of Art. 210).
It turned out that the picture was taken on April 27, 2017. It illustrates a press release published on the website of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Maikop, which at that time was headed by Arashukov. The press release says that Chaika awarded Director General of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Maikop and Gazprom Gazoraspredelenie Maikop Ruslan Arashukov with an honorary certificate “for a significant contribution to strengthening the rule of law and ensuring interaction with the prosecution authorities of the Russian Federation.”
Senator Rauf Arashukov was detained at a meeting of the Federation Council on January 30. He is charged with Participation in a Criminal Community (part 3 of Art. 210), Murder of Two or More Persons (part 2 of Art. 105), and Pressure on a Witness (part 4 of Art. 309 of the Russian Criminal Code). The following people have been detained or arrested as part of the same case: Deputy Director General of Gazprom Gazoraspredelenie Stavropol Nikolay Romanov, Director of a Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Stavropol branch Guzer Khashukaev, Director General of Gazprom Gazoraspredelenie Astrakhan Ruslan Arashukov, Director General of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Stavropol Igor Travinov, and Essentukigorgaz CEO Alan Kyatov. All of them are accused of Swindling on an Especially Large Scale and Participation in an Organized Criminal Community.
