Why fighters of Ziyavudin Magomomedov's Eagles MMA attack Russia's bronze medalist in combat sambo
Yesterday, the Tverskoy Court arrested in absentia former Director for support of the Summa group and President of the Eagles MMA fight club, Denis Klopnev, on charges of organizing an attempted murder of sambo fighter Shamil Kuramagomedov. An episode with a beating, in which currently several titled athletes are already in custody, can become a part of the case of the Magomedov brothers OCG.
Kommersant provides some details of the criminal case under Art. 30, Part 1 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of the attempted murder), according to which former Top Manager of the Summa Group and president of the Eagles MMA fight club Denis Klopnev was arrested and put on the international wanted list.
As the newspaper writes, according to the investigation, on June 12, 2017 in Moscow, on the Artamonov street Klopnev and seven more fighters of mixed martial arts beat their colleague, winner of the Russian sambo championship Shamil Kuramagomedov. As a result of the attack, the victim suffered a concussion, a closed head injury and a fracture of the nose. He was allegedly saved from more serious consequences by passers-by. Kuramagomedov wrote a statement to law enforcement agencies only in November 2017, after which the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs opened a criminal case on a non-core article for them – an article on attempted murder (Art. 3 of the Russian Criminal Code). For six months, the case against the “unidentified persons” who attacked Mr. Kuramagomedov lay motionless, and became active only after the arrest of the brothers Ziyavudin and Magomed Magomedov in March 2018 on charges of organizing a criminal community or participating in it, embezzlement and fraud committed on a large scale (Art. 210, part 4 of Art. 159 and part 4 of Art. 160 of the Russian Criminal Code).
The first detained, and then, at the request of the investigation, arrested in the case of the beating of Kuramagomedov in September 2018 were four times champion of the country in mixed martial arts and army hand-to-hand combat, coach Feliks Urudzhev and silver medalist of the Russian MIA championship in hand-to-hand combat and bronze medalist of the World Championship in wushu Ismail Aliyev. Yesterday, the Tverskoy District Court considered the investigations' requests to detain in absentia, in addition to Denis Klopnev, three more fighters of the Eagles Club – the world champion in universal combat and the winner of the world kickboxing championship Kurban Omarov, the champion of the Ural Federal District in hand-to-hand combat Rashid Sirazhudinov and Honored Master of Sports of Russia in Universal Fight Khasan Umalatov.
The investigation materials do not say why the fighters belonging to Ziyavudin Magomedov's Eagles MMA Team club, where the most famous Russian MMA fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov was training, attacked Shamil Kuramagomedov. However, according to the Kommersant source, the reason for the conflict was Shamil Kuramagomedov’s desire to take the place of Denis Klopnev as head of the club.
“Allegedly, even someone promised him, but the question had to be settled with Klopnev himself. The conversation did not work out, and everything ended in a fight. But there were no injuries to Kuramagomedov. Moreover, no one wanted to kill him: can you imagine what an entire team of experienced hand-to-hand fighters would do to him if they wanted to," the source said.
The words of the source of Kommersant confirm the retraining of the actions of the attackers by an investigation in June 2018, first to an attempt on the intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm (part 3 of Art. 30, item “a” part 3 of Art. 111 of the Russian Criminal Code), and recently to intentional infliction of moderate bodily harm (Art. 112).
Meanwhile, the newspaper notes, the case of the beating of Shamil Kuramagomedov is led by the investigator, who works on the case of the co-owners of the Summa Group. Therefore, it is possible that in the near future the guards of the brothers Magomedov may be incriminated of participation in the criminal community, which just lacked the power component. Those accused of attacking Kuramagomedov are already being tested for involvement in other similar incidents.
