Volgograd region: gang of robbers from Tatarstan detained
The detainees stole a car from a car service in Kazan, beat a local resident, and stole 1 million rubles ($15,156) from an apartment in Naberezhnye Chelny.
In the Volgograd region, police and the National Guard have detained a crime group suspected of a series of robberies and a car theft, the MIA press service reports.
According to service, the detainees stole a car from a car service in Kazan, beat a 27-year-old local resident, and took his money and phone from him; later, they robbed an apartment, threatening the owner with a knife. They took $15 thousand (about 1 million rubles) from the apartment.
Law enforcers have established that two residents of the Republic of Tatarstan, previously convicted of similar crimes, may be involved in the raids.
During detention, the suspects exchanged fire with the police and threatened them with an object similar to a grenade, demanding that they be released. After the arrest, a gas revolver and a dummy grenade were seized from them. It is reported that the robbers may be drugged.
Criminal cases under Robbery (Art. 161 of the Russian Criminal Code), Robbery with Extreme Violence (Art. 162), and Car Theft (Art. 166) have been initiated.
