Urals: Son-in-law of Rovshan Lenkoransky’s enforcer detained for kidnapping along with his OCG
After the murder of Rovshan Lenkoransky, his former protege in the region – Agayar Agaev – began to represent the interests of another influential thief in law, Nadir Salifov aka Guli, while his relative took up racketeering along with his accomplices.
During an operation carried out by siloviki on October 9 in Sysert, Sverdlovsk region, several members of extortionists' gang were detained; they are also charged with kidnapping, Argumenty i Fakty – Ural reports.
According to the publication, one of the OCG leaders is 35-year-old Shaig Samedov, a relative of crime lord Agayar Agaev (aka Sedoy). Agaev is previously known in the region as an 'enforcer' of Rovshan Dzhaniev (Rovshan Lenkoransky), shot dead by killers in August 2016 in Turkey.
Agaev was introduced to the Azerbaijani (Talysh) diaspora as Lenkoransky's confidant in March of the same year. According to Ural media, after Dzhaniev's murder, Agaev began to represent the interests of another influential thief in law, Nadir Salifov aka Guli, in the region. The thief is currently serving his sentence and remotely directs his representatives in a number of cities and regions.
At the beginning of the year, Salifov called dibs on the notorious vegetable base No. 4, previously controlled by Rovshan Lenkoransky. According to Argumenty i Fakty, Agayar Agaev's business is closely linked to the vegetable base No. 4.
The base regularly comes to the attention of law enforcement bodies. In 2014, former Vice-Mayor of Yekaterinburg Viktor Konteev was sentenced to 18 years in a strict security prison for seizure of the vegetable base No. 4's property and incitement to murder of two members of Uralmash OCG, who prevented the supply of fruit and vegetable products to the base.
As reported by an Argumenty i Fakty's source in law enforcement bodies, the Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case under two articles of the Russian Criminal Code – Extortion and Kidnapping. It is not yet known how many episodes there are in the criminal case. The publication does not exclude that extortion was serial, since Department No. 1 for Investigation of Important Cases of the regional ICR Investigations Directorate is in charge of the case. The Sverdlovsk Investigations Directorate has not provided any official comment on the information, nor it has denied it.
Meanwhile, Argumenty i Fakty labels the detention of Samedov's gang of racketeers in Syrset and the discovery of the corpse of 47-year-old businessman Evgeny Matochkin, son of ex-Director of Ekaterinburgsky Khlebokombinat MUE ('Yekaterinburg Bakery'), Semyon Matochkin, "a strange coincidence." However, the Investigative Committee does not officially link these two occurrences.
