The Arashukovs case: Deputy Head of Gazprom’s branch detained in Dagestan
Daniyalbek Bagautdinov is suspected of involvement in gas theft and abuse of authority. The damage from his actions is estimated at 11 million rubles ($165,000).
Daniyalbek Bagautdinov, the Deputy Head of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Makhachkala branch, was detained in Makhachkala, RBC reports citing sources close to the government and a regional police department.
Bagautdinov is suspected of abuse of authority and involvement in the theft of gas. The damage from his actions is estimated at 11 million rubles ($165,000).
At the beginning of November 2018 in Dagestan, Vladimir Anastasov, the General Director of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Makhachkala, was detained as part of the case on theft of gas on a particularly large-scale. Searches were conducted at the building of the company.
In January 2019, the Prosecutor of Dagestan, Denis Popov, reported on the searches at 980 gas consumption facilities in the republic. According to Popov, law enforcement revealed the scheme on theft of gas and money. Seven criminal cases were initiated.
At the end of January, Advisor to the General Director of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz and Deputy of the People’s Assembly of Dagestan Raul Arashukov was aslo detained. He is suspected of involvement in the creation of an organized crime and participation in it, as well as theft of gas from Gazprom for 31 billion rubles. Arashukov was arrested until March 30.
