Senator Arashukov to “say something” to members of public monitoring committee
Arashukov - who is in custody at Lefortovo remand prison - has a few complaints related to many points.
Senator of the Karachay-Cherkessia Rauf Arashukov - who is in custody at Lefortovo remand prison in a case into creation of a criminal community and murders - has had interviews with members of the public monitoring committee. Deputy head of the public monitoring committee of Moscow Eva Merkacheva told RIA Novosti that he has now complaints about the remand prison itself, however he is concerned about other issues he promised to tell about next time.
“Arashukov Jr. actively does sports. He has a few complaints related to many points. First and foremost - about the prosecution. But what he says is undetailed. He asked us to come next time. He told he would say something. May be, he’s going to complain about something. His cell mate is a terrorist, as far as I understand,” Merkacheva said.
The CrimeRussia reported Arashukov had been detained in the courtroom of the Federation Council. Besides participation in a criminal community and murders of two persons, he is being accused of pressure on a witness. Moscow’s Basmanny court dismissed Arashukov from his position for the time of the investigation.
The senator’s father Raul Arashukov was detained in the same case in St. Petersburg. He is being considered the founder of the criminal community. He is believed to have committed theft of 30 billion rubles ($465 million) from Gazprom. There are 9 defendants in the case who are in custody at the present time.
General’s son Mikhail Sal’nikov, Professor of the Department of Theory of Government and Law at the St. Petersburg University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Russian Federation, has been detained for real estate fraud. Amid other corruption crimes hitting the headlines, this offense does not seem a high-profile one. But the point is that this is not the first criminal case instituted against professor Sal’nikov, and he is not the only relative of MIA general Viktor Sal’nikov having problems with the law.
