Senator Arashukov paid $22.4k for two murders

The investigation believes that Karachay-Cherkessia Senator Rauf Arashukov has paid 1.5 million rubles ($22,425) for the murder of Deputy Chairman of the Karachay-Cherkessia Republic youth movement Adyghe-Khase, Aslan Zhukov, and Advisor to the President of the KCR Fral Shebzukhov. This is reported by a TASS source.

“During the interrogation last summer, the mediator between the perpetrators and the paymaster (Rauf Arashukov) Rustam Kopsergenov said that Rauf had paid him 500 thousand rubles ($7,475) for the attack on Shebzukhov, which the assassins themselves confirmed after being detained back in 2012,” the source said.

At the same time, another defendant in the case, Rasul Adzhiev, told the investigation that he had received 1 million rubles ($14,940) through Arashukov’s relative for killing Zhukov.

Karachay-Cherkessia Senator Rauf Arashukov was detained in the Federation Council building on January 30. The same day, his father, Advisor to the General Director of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz and a deputy of the Karachay-Cherkessia People's Assembly Raul Arashukov was detained at a Gazprom meeting in St. Petersburg.

Rauf Arashukov is suspected of committing a number of crimes under part 3 of Art. 210 of the Russian Criminal Code (Participation in a Criminal Community), part 4 of Art. 309 (Pressure on a Witness), and part 2 of Art. 105 (Murder). According to the investigation, Arashukov is involved in the murders of Deputy Head of the Karachay-Cherkessia Republic youth movement Adyghe-Khase, Aslan Zhukov, and Advisor to the President of the KCR Fral Shebzukhov, pressure on the witness of Zhukov’s murder, as well as participation in a crime community.

Raul Arashukov is accused of committing crimes under part 3 of Art. 210 (Creation of a Criminal Community (Criminal Organization) committed by a person through his/her official position) and part 4 of Art. 159 of the Russian Criminal Code (Swindling). According to the case file, he was involved in stealing natural gas from PJSC Gazprom worth more than 30 billion rubles ($454 million) for several years.
