Security forces interrupt mafia lords commemorating kingpin Vasya Korzh

In Kharkov, the security forces detained participants of a criminal “gathering,” the head of the of Ukrainian National Police Main Directorte for the Kharkiv Region, Oleg Bekh, reported on his Facebook page.
According to Bekh, the Kharkov police received information that “the leaders of the gangster groups intended to commemorate kingpin Alexander Kochev (Kovalenko, Korzhikov, Knyazev), who died on December 28, 1996 at the age of 77 years.
Bekh also said that, apart from the commemoration, the mafia lords planned to distribute the “common fund” and plan their future criminal activities in the Kharkiv Region.
“Their plans were frustrated by operatives of the regional police headquarters’ Directorate for Strategic Investigations. 20 people who had repeatedly been prosecuted were detained. Mafia lord and a local kingpin nicknamed Valerson were among them, Bekha said.
Currently, the detainees are being checked for involvement in the commission of crimes on the territory of Kharkiv Region and around it.
Alexander Kochev, known by the nickname Vasya Korzh, was crowned in 1942 at the age of 22. He was repeatedly tried.
