On January 25, 2018, three men on a highway in the Saratov Region used violence against the head of the operational unit of the Kaluga Regional Department of the MIA.

Men who committed two robberies (part 3 of Article 162 CCRF) in Saratov, used violence against a representative of the authorities (part 2 of Article 35, part 2 of Article 318 CCRF) and were involved in illegal arms trafficking (part 2 of Article 222 CCRF) were sentenced. A 25-year-old previously convicted citizen of a foreign country, as well as two local residents of 31 and 23 years old were on the dock, the ICR’s Investigative Directorate for the Saratov Region reported.

It was established that from August 23 to 24, 2017, the 25-year-old man and his 23-year-old friend robbed two Saratov women. The attackers illegally entered the victims' homes, injured the women and stole a mobile phone worth 950 rubles ($ 15). Contrary to expectations, they failed to find more valuable property.

They committed a similar crime on September 2 – 3, 2017 in relation to another townswoman. As in the previous case, the gang illegally entered their home, where the attackers used violence and stole the victim’s property (money, tablet, and three mobile phones) worth 12,218 rubles ($ 191).

In addition, on the afternoon of January 25, 2018, the three of the now convicts used violence against the head of the MIA’s operational unit for Kaluga on the highway in the Saratov Region. At that moment, the policeman was involved in “operational-search measures aimed at establishing the whereabouts of previously stolen property.” The attackers shot the law enforcement officer several times with weapons that they had illegally. The law enforcement officer was injured.

Employees of the regional MIA’s Main Directorate have identified the suspects. They did not plead guilty to the crime. However, the investigators gathered enough evidence to convict. As a result, the court sentenced the 25-year-old man to 11 years in prison and the 23-year-old to 9 years in a maximum security penal colony. The older attacker was sentenced to three years in a penal colony. The verdict has not yet entered into force.

It is to be recalled that earlier the police reported that the armed attack on the law enforcement officer from another region occurred near the village of Rybushka. The attackers fired a traumatic gun and a sawn-off shotgun. The suspects Arnold Viktorovich Shtib, Eldar Halilov, and Mamedli Shahmaly Bakhsheshish Ogly were put on the wanted list.
