The senator complains about the absence of halal meal and a TV-set in the remand prison.

Arrested senators Rauf Arashukov and his father Raul Arashukov are displeased with the absence of halal meal and a TV-set in the remand prison Lefortovo. This has been stated by a member of the public monitoring committee Aleksander Ionov in his interview with Izvestia.

“During our meeting, he told us that if he “had earlier known how it goes in a remand prison, he would have brought in starkly different bills,” Ionov reported.

In his words, the senator is displeased with the fact that he can not receive the food he needs: fish, in particular; but the menu of the remand prison has no place for it due to the dangers of food poisoning and intestinal infectious diseases.

The public monitoring committee’s member says Arashukov is also “concerned about his brothers in faith in the colony who can not purchase halal food.” The senator’s father, in turn, is more unhappy about the absence of a TV-set and disability to follow the news than the food.

The public monitoring committee’s member Boris Klin says the TV-set stopped receiving the signal in the remand prison following transfer of Moscow to digital broadcasting. “The remand prison’s authorities say the centralized purchasing is going to be carried out, but the timelines are unknown ,” the committee’s member said.

Meanwhile, the senator Arashukov is reading detective stories in the prison’s library and expects to receive religious literature from outside as soon as it goes through censorship.

The CrimeRussia earlier reported the 32-year-old senator of the Karachay-Cherkessia Rauf Arashukov had been placed in detention on accusation of participation in a criminal community (item 3 of article 210 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), murder of two or more parties (item 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), and compulsion to give testimony (item 4 of article 309 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to the case, the senator is involved in murder of a vice chairman of a youth movement Adyge Khase Aslan Zhukov and murder of a counsellor of the Republic’s head Fral Shezbukhov. The parliamentarian’s father Raul Arashukov is accused of theft of gas worth of more than 30 billion rubles ($465 million) from PAO Gazprom.
