Primorye: FSB detains four jihadists planning to rob local businessmen
The suspects intended to use the stolen money to go to Syria to join terrorists.
The FSB officers detained four citizens of Central Asian countries in Primorye on suspicion of involvement in the Jamaat Tawhid wal-Jihad terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation and preparation of robberies of several entrepreneurs. According to the intelligence services, the jihadists planned to go to Syria to take part in the hostilities on the side of the local terrorists, the press service of the FSB reports.
During the conducted searches, the operatives seized components for the manufacture of explosives, a non-lethal Makarov pistol, converted for firing live ammunition and ammunition to it, religious extremist literature, video materials containing propaganda of the activities of the international terrorist organization Islamic State (banned in the RF), as well as equipment used for communication with foreign emissaries.
The investigators conduct interrogations and establish the detainees’ identities. The issue of initiation of a criminal case is being addressed.
