Police officers tell about links former Makhachkala MIA head had with criminal underworld
Raip Ashikov allegedly leaked investigative information to Gadzhidadaev’s terrorist grouping.
The former Makhachkala MIA head, Raip Ashikov, patronized the pharmacy drug business, smugglers and a gambling organizer, as well as leaked information from the reports of his employees to Ibragim Gadzhidadaev’s terrorist grouping, Ashikov’s former subordinate told Komsomolskaya Pravda.
“Raip demanded reports from the subordinates about the work done, and then forwarded them to criminals. They also listened to our radis,” the policeman said.
According to him, Ashikov's mistress patronized pharmacy drug business. The investigation believes that the murder attempt on the deputy head of the Dagestani MIA’s Criminal Investigation Directorate, Anvar Shamkhalov, in March 2012, is connected with his refusal to protect Ashikov’s pharmacy business.
Raip and his brother Ziyavudin Ashikov were arrested after Omar Abdurashidov, an employee of the Republican Pension Fund, testified against the former. The investigation believes he worked as courier for the militants. In particular, in the beginning of December 2018, Abdurashidov, as the investigation claims, handed over 200,000 rubles ($ 3,100) to guerilla Marat Alinchiev, of which 160,000 ($ 2,500) were from Raip Ashikov.
In addition, according to the investigators, Ashikov collaborated with militant Kazimagomed Shabagiyev, whose gangsters shot the Dagestani Internal Affairs minister and for years collected the “jihad tax” from businessmen and officials, threatening them with reprisals.
