Police bust gang of men from Caucasus engaged in kidnapping businessmen for ransom
The mobsters terrorized entrepreneurs of the Moscow region.
Security forces busted a Moscow gang engaged in kidnapping for ransom and robberies.
The gang operated in the Moscow region. Their victims were always entrepreneurs. For instance, in November 2016 the kidnappers held hostage a suburban businessman and demanded a ransom of 1.5 million rubles. When they got the money from the entrepreneur’s family, the victim was released. The suspects were detained in hot pursuit. They were two men from the Caucasus. Dolgoprudny Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under art 2 Art. 126 of the Criminal Code (Abduction).
Law enforcers also found that those same bandits had robbed another businessman. Regarding the incident, Mytishchi MIA Investigation Department initiated a case under part 2 and part 3 of Art. 162 of the Criminal Code (Robbery).
In addition, Moscow law enforcers have detained a 26-year-old brother of the gang leader who planned kidnappings and was involved in them directly. Recently, law enforcement agencies were able to collar two more gang members, as well as the leader, a man of 30, with a number of previous convictions.
All of the detained are in custody pending trial. The investigators may be able to reveal more criminal incidents and establish more accomplices.
Searches at the mobsters’ houses revealed a non-lethal gun, 8 rounds, 4 knives used in the attacks, and two packages with vegetable substance.
The city police detained two officers of the Russian FSB and the deputy chief of the Internal Affairs Directorate for the North-East Administrative District Department of the Interior Ministry of Russia for Moscow, who are suspected of bribe-taking.
