The apartment of the arrested Rauf and Raul Arashukov, in which the security forces conducted a search, could be registered in the name of a previously convicted person. The Bell found two apartments that are for various reasons could pass as the Arashukovs’ housing. One of them, according to Rosreestr, belongs to Gennady Sidorov convicted of hostage-taking, the second one belongs to Dmitry Mikhalchenko, who was sentenced to four years and seven months in a colony for smuggling elite alcohol.

The Arashukovs’ apartment, according to the publication, is located on the 12th floor of the residential complex Novaya Zvezda on the Pesochnaya Embankment in St. Petersburg and is put up for sale for 99 million rubles ($ 1,5 million). Sidorov is registered as an IE and is engaged in resale of real estate. In the 2000s, he managed at least 30 apartments; in total, Sidorov closed 80 deals.

Rauf Arashukov is accused of involvement in two murders, witness tampering and participation in the organized criminal grouping of his father, who is accused of stealing natural gas worth 31 billion rubles ($ 470 million).
