Moscow region: Police detained gang having truck drivers at bay
The criminal group attacked drivers of trucks and extorted money from them.
The Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), the MIA General Administration for Drug Control in the Moscow region and the Solnechnogorsk MIA Office have detained members of the organized criminal group (OCG) specializing in armed attacks on truck drivers.
The police reported on the detention without specifying methods of the gang. It is known the OCG conducted attacks on a highway. The OCG members attacked drivers of heavy trucks in parking places along the road. They extorted money from drivers threatening them with violence.
Security forces detained the suspects red-handed at the scene of a crime in Elino village, the Solnechnogorsk district. During the operation, one of the bandits resisted the police with weapon: when he tried to escape in his car, he hit the MIA car and a police officer. The policemen opened fire with service weapons, leaving the suspect wounded. Soon, the police arrested the OCG member in a service center. The detained is a 34-year-old resident of the Krasnogorsk district. He is hospitalized at the moment.
While searches in an auto service center, where a bandit was hiding, a foreign-made pistol was found. The weapon is under examination. Meanwile, the security forces arrested another member of the OCG, a repeatedly convicted 43-year resident of Moscow as a result of operational search activities in the capital.
Criminal cases against the detained members have been initiated under part 2 of Art. 162 of the Criminal Code (Robbery committed by a group of persons by previous concert).
The city police detained two officers of the Russian FSB and the deputy chief of the Internal Affairs Directorate for the North-East Administrative District Department of the Interior Ministry of Russia for Moscow, who are suspected of bribe-taking.
