Moscow region: ethnic group take apartments and abduct individuals
Its leader, however, has been detained for drug possession and home burglary only.
Officers of the criminal investigation department of Moscow region have detained a leader of an ethnic crime group that had dealt with real estate fraud.
According to the web site of the central office of the regional MIA, in autumn, last year, the criminals attempted to defraud a 46-year-old local in a settlement of Nikolskoye out of her house. Her neighbour warned her of the attempted crime. After that, the gang’s members abducted his daughter (born in 2000) out of revenge. The woman was against her will taken to a detached house located in Kubinka and raped.
Policemen determined the leader of the crime group following active search measures. He is a 37-year-old local with prior records. He was detained with the support of special forces Grom (Thunder). Weapon, ammunition, several bank cards, mobile phones, jewellery, wrist watch, stun guns, a stiletto cane, as well as 4 parcels of powdery and plant substance were found during the searches in his apartment.
Head of the media office of the central directorate of Russia’s MIA in Moscow region Tatiana Petrova noted that the police had determined the detainee’s involvement in home burglary in a town of Zelenograd with the damage estimated at more than 5 million rubles ($78 thousand).
The Office of Investigations of MIA’s Intermunicipal Directorate has initiated criminal cases under article 158 (Theft) and 228 (Illegal Acquisition, Storage, Transportation, Making or Processing of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances or Analogues Thereof, as Well as Illegal Acquisition, Storage and Transportation of Plants Containing Narcotics or Psychotropic Substances, or Parts Thereof Containing Narcotics or Psychotropic Substances) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
The detainee has been placed in custody. Police are determining other crime instances of the defendant in the criminal case and whereabouts of other gang’s members.
