Moscow City Court finds temporary deprivation of senator Arashukov’s powers legal
Earlier, the custody term in respect of the senator accused of murder and participation in the OCG was extended until June 30.
The Moscow State Court dismissed the complaint of senator Rauf Arashukov’s defense team on his temporary dismissal from office. The accused will be deprived of the senator’s powers until the sentence or termination of the criminal prosecution. Earlier, the court extended the Arashukov’s custody terms until June 30.
In court, the senator stressed that his guilt has not yet been proven, and he considers the criminal case to be an attempt to remove him from the Federation Council. It is to be recalled, Arashukova was accused of participating in a criminal community that, according to the investigators, stole natural gas worth 31 billion rubles ($ 481 million). The leader of the OCG is the senator’s father, Raul Arashukov. In addition, the senator is accused of two murders and witness tampering.
