Moldova: 10 members of vor Makena’s OCG detained on suspicion of large robbery
According to the investigation, in 2017, gangsters broke into the house of a Balti resident and stole property worth more than 2 million lei (7.3 million rubles).
In Moldova, 10 members of thief in law Vladimir Moskalchuk’s (aka Makena) criminal group have been detained on suspicion of committing a large robbery, tv8.md reports.
According to the investigation, in March 2017, gangsters broke into the house of a Balti resident and stole money and property worth more than 2 million lei. It is reported that a woman also took part in the robbery. The suspected persons are aged from 29 to 47.
On May 7, law enforcers searched the penitentiary institution No. 11 in Balti, as well as the places of residence and vehicles of the suspects as part of the case. The police seized money, gold jewelry, mobile phones, SIM cards, bank cards, and other relevant items.
The investigation believes a native of Dagestan, associated with Makena's group, to be the organizer of the robbery. It is noted that the man had previous convictions. At the moment, all members of the group and the roles of each of them are being established. The detainees face up to 12 years’ imprisonment.
