Lawyer: Rauf Arashukov reported income and should remain senator
The Federation Council is confident that the prisoner filed a declaration after the deadline.
Senator Rauf Arashukov can retain his powers, since he filled out the income declaration in the detention center and submitted it on April 1, lawyer Anna Stavitskaya told Komsomolskaya Pravda. She argues that the documents could be submitted until April 1, inclusive, with which the Federation Council does not agree.
“Arashukov did not submit the income statement until April 1. After that, a special working group was formed. It will examine in detail the causes of the incident. We have already sent a letter to the senator asking him to explain his actions,” the vice-speaker and the head of the commission on income, Yuri Vorobyov, said.
Arashukov is held in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention facility on charges of two murders and participation in a criminal gang that stole natural gas from Gazprom worth 31 billion rubles ($ 478 million).
Presumably, it concerns the US response to Ukraine’s help in the investigation against Joseph Biden, Trump’s main rival in the 2020 presidential election, who allegedly was in collusion with Kiev during the previous campaign.
