Lawyer of counterfeit alcohol sellers' OCG arrested in Chelyabinsk
In Chelyabinsk, another person involved in the criminal case, connected with the disappearance of 1 million bottles of confiscated counterfeit alcohol from the warehouse, was arrested.
It was former Head of the Investigative Department of the city's Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as acting lawyer Mikhail Shesterikov.
Last Friday, August 11, the Traktorozavodskiy District Court granted the petition of the investigative bodies and chose a preventive measure in the form of arrest. He, like Head of the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Interior Affairs Vasiliy Potekhin, who was arrested the day before, will be in jail until October 10 of this year.
Both men are charged with Exceeding Official Powers (part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code) and Selling Property that was acquired knowingly by criminal means, by an organized group or a person using his official position (part 3 of Article 175 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
It is noteworthy that in October last year, on a similar charge former Head of the Chelyabinsk Police Raphael Usmanov was arrested.
It should be noted that in addition to the policemen, who are currently being detained, former Head of the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption department Valery Sizenov and ex-investigator of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Alexey Yusupov also appear in this case.
According to investigative agencies, senior police officers teamed up with the OCG, intending to sell 1 million bottles of counterfeit alcohol confiscated in 2013. At the same time, the disappearance of alcohol from the warehouse was revealed only in 2015.
