Jury trial for Shamaninskie
The investigation has prepared material on 329 volumes involving 27 members of the gang, which was operating in the Arkhangelsk region.
The sensational criminal case on crimes committed by members of a major gang Shamaninskie will soon be considered by a jury. At the moment, the ICR in the Arkhangelsk region and Nenets Autonomous District has completed investigation of the criminal case against 27 members of organized crime group. Depending on the role and degree of participation of each they are charged under articles Participation In a Criminal Association (part 2 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code), Participation In a Stable Armed Group (band) (part 2 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code), Deliberate Destruction of Another's Property (part 2 of Art. 167 of the Criminal Code), Extortion (items (a, b), part 3 of Art. 163 of the Criminal Code) and Robbery (item (a), part 4 of Art. 162 of the Criminal Code).
According to investigators, in 2012, Oleg Shamanin created the gang. The gang laid under tribute Arkhangelsk and Severodvinsk businessmen. Bandits acted in the spirit of their predecessors from the 90s threatening and taking over business from uncooperative entrepreneurs. Moreover, shamaninskie could not be identified a long time, because they acted under the protection of local police officers, who turned a blind eye to the committed crimes and refused to initiate criminal proceedings.
All defendants remand in custody. The same measure was chosen in relation to former Head of the Severodvinsk Criminal Investigation Police Alexey Shumov known in narrow circles as Shum (Noise). Other werewolves in epaulets, who assisted criminals, were fired and brought to justice.
However, Shamanin, who is accused in absentia of crimes against life and health of citizens, public safety and order, as well as in the Organization of Criminal Community (part 4 of Art. 210 of the Criminal Code), is on the run. The preventive measure in the form of detention is chosen to him. He is put on the international wanted list. Recently, it was reported that the fugitive was arrested in the UAE, but later it was not confirmed.
Victims of shamaninskie’s actions are more than 70 people. Gang’s property in the amount of 50 million rubles was seized.
The Greek Areopagus upheld the decision of the court in Thessaloniki to extradite Russian Alexander Vinnik, who is considered the owner of the BTC-e crypto-exchange. RBC magazine found other of its possible beneficiaries and found out what Vinnik was doing.
