Georgian Interior Ministry has completed a census of all thieves in law and placed the results in a green circular of Interpol, said the Interior Minister Georgy Mgebrishvili. He said this at a conference of the project of the General Secretariat of Interpol Millennium, which familiarized guests with results, achieved in the context of international police cooperation.
The project called Millennium acts against large mafia clans and transnational criminal groups. It operates under auspices of the General Secretariat of Interpol. This is a database on participants and organizations of Eastern European and Russian organized crime groups.
Note that Mgebrishvili did not specify the number of determined thieves in law and did not mention their names.
Its own census the Russian Interior Ministry carried out in 2013. Then it was succeed to count about 500 crime bosses in Russia, CIS and far abroad. It turned out that most of them came from Georgia. At that time, according to the Main Criminal Investigation Department, there were at liberty 428 thieves in law, another 73 people were held in detention centers and colonies of Russia.
