ICR leadership in Karachay-Cherkessia admits friendship with senator Arashukov
The officers were interrogated as part of a service check related to the criminal case against the parliamentarian.
The acting head of the ICR for Karakay-Cherkessia, Arsen Ezaov, his first deputy, Kazbek Bulatov, and the heads of its two departments confessed friendship with Rauf Arashukov, a member of the Federation Council arrested on charges of two murders. They said this at the interrogation, which took place as part of an official check related to the criminal case against the parliamentarian.
“In their explanations the officers did not refute the friendship with Arashukov, but denied that they acted contrary to service interests at the senator’s request,” Lenta.ru reports, referring to a source in law enforcement.
The employees of the republican ICR were interrogated in order to establish whether the security services provided protection to the accused senator. Arashukov was accused of involvement in the murders of the leader of Adyghe Khase public youth organization, Aslan Zhukov, and adviser to the president of the republic Fral Shebzukhov, as well as participation in the organized criminal group created by his father Raul Arashukov and tampering with a witness of Zhukov’s murder.
