Hero of Russia convicted for illegal gambling business was released on parole
A court has considered a positive characteristic of the prisoner composed by the management of pre-trial detention center-1 and a guarantee from one of the companies of Cheboksary in Borisov's employment in case of his release.
An organiser of a gang and the Hero of Russia, Evgeny Borisov, has been released on parole, as court satisfied his petition.
The chairman of the Moscow regional court of Cheboksary Galina Trynova has considered a positive characteristic of Evgeny Borisov by management of pre-trial detention center-1, where he serves his sentence, telling about good behavior and numerous encouragement of the convict, as well as a letter of guarantee submitted to court by a Cheboksary's company about immediate employment of Evgeny Borisov in case he is released ahead of schedule.
The representative of prosecutor's office of Moscow district of Cheboksary opposed the satisfaction of the petition at the hearing as from the fine of 10 million rubles ($165 thousand) which was ordered to pay within the sentence, Evgeny Borisov has paid only a little more than 118 thousand rubles ($1 thousand).
To recall, the verdict on an organized criminal group was delivered by the Moscow regional court of Cheboksary in April, 2016. The defendants, including the leader of the group, the ex-cochairman of the Chuvash office of the All-Russia People’s Front, the Hero of Russia Evgeny Borisov, have been found guilty and have received from three to seven and a half years of standard regime penal colony and also large penalties. Borisov was sentenced to six and a half years of standard regime penal colony and a penalty of 10 million rubles ($165 thousand) and also for criminal activity, “discrediting highest state award”, he was deprived of his rank of the Hero of Russia. Presidium of the Supreme Court of Chuvashia on July 21, 2017, having considered the appeal of Evgeny Borisov’s lawyer Alimzhan Abubikerov, returned to him the rank of the Hero of Russia.
The prosecutor's office of Chuvashia has noted that the supervisory authority will make the decision on expediency to appeal against the judgment about Evgeny Borisov's release on parole after obtaining a written motivated judgment.
The ICR has reported on solving the murder of Ilya Pichko, who had been due to testify in the high-profile case of smuggling at the hearing on December 18. The search for the head of Yugo-Vostochnaya Torgovaya Kompaniya began after he failed to appear at the hearing scheduled for December 11.
