Head of Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin on friendly terms with Arashukov and often visits his family

Head of Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin was on friendly terms with the detained Senator Rauf Arashukov and his father Raul Arashukov and repeatedly visited their country retreat, reports RTVI TV-channel with reference to a source close to the investigation.
The CrimeRussia had earlier published a behind-the-scenes photo of Alexander Bastrykin’s vacation. The TV-channel reports the photo was taken when Bastrykin was visiting Arashukov’s family in their country retreat in Khabez (the Karachay-Cherkess Republic).
The Senator Rauf Arashukov was detained on January 30, at the meeting of the Federation Council. He was accused under item 3 of article 210 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation in a criminal organisation), item 4 of article 309 (putting pressure on witness), item 2 of article 105 (murder).
According to the investigation, Arashukov is involved in murder of a deputy head of a youth movement Adyge-Khase of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic Aslan Zhukov, and murder of a counsellor to the President of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic Fral Shebzukhov, as well as putting pressure on a witness of Zhukov’s murder. The day before, Moscow’s Basmanny court arrested the Senator for 2 months.
The Senator’s father Rauf Arashukov is being suspected of theft of natural gas of Gazprom PAO worth of more than 30 billion rubles ($460 million) during several years.
