The Federation Council member was outraged by being cellmates with a person convicted for terrorism.
The cellmate of senator Rauf Arashukov will be replaced after the member of the Federation Council complained about him, RBC reported, referring to the FSIN. The senator himself is accused of two murders, participation in the organized criminal group of his father and interfering with witnesses, At the same time, the FSIN noted that everything was according to the law, since the charges against the senator and his current cellmate are brought under the same article of the Criminal Code.
“I am an active member of the Federation Council! Where is this possible?” Arashukov was indignant at the Moscow City Court by sharing the cell with a 18-year-old convict for terrorism.
The sentence regarding the cellmate has not yet entered into force, so he is held with Arashukov in the Lefortovo detention center. The court took the senator into custody until March 30. Arashukov pleads innocent and calls the criminal prosecution a political order.
On January 31, the court took his father, adviser to the CEO of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz, Raul Arashukov, in custody on charges of creating an organized criminal grouping and stealing natural gas worth 30 billion rubles ($ 456 million).
Mass protest rallies have been taking place in Moscow on a regular basis since the beginning of this summer. People are protesting for lots of different reasons. However, the reaction of the law enforcement authorities is always the same: repression. What is the reason behind the brutality shown during the dispersion of mass rallies? A conscious intimidation policy or incompetence of law enforcement functionaries escalating the violence and unable to imagine the potential consequences of this?
