FSB officers detained gang of extortionists in Berdsk
A criminal case was opened on the fact of extortion on a particularly large scale.
In the evening of October 17, around 9:00pm in the city of Berdsk, Novosibirsk region, a special operation was conducted to detain a gang of extortionists in the city cafe Smile City.
The special forces of the FSB burst into the cafe and mitted two people. All other visitors and workers of the cafe were asked to leave the institution, after which it was closed due to the operation conducted.
The Berdsk-online website reports that two men were arrested in the Smile City café; they are members of the Berdsk criminal group. In turn, the press service of the Investigative Committee in the Novosibirsk region confirmed to Vesti that the special forces of the FSB neutralized the gang.
At the moment it is known that the group members were caught red-handed. The ICR confirmed that the detainees extorted money in the amount of 3 million rubles ($53.320) from one of the Berdsk entrepreneurs. A criminal case was initiated under Article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Now the cafe is closed, operational activities are carried out. It is known that the FSB officers seized CCTV records that captured the events of yesterday's evening.
Saburova believes that the Russian authorities violated articles 2 and 5 of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, guaranteeing the right to life, as well as the right to freedom and personal inviolability.
