Employee of Federal Tax Service Directorate becomes defendant in case into robbery with involvement of officers of Federal Security Service
Dmitry Chikvin has been arrested by court.
Moscow District Military Court confirmed the arrest of an employee of the Moscow Federal Tax Service Directorate Dmitry Chikvin with regard to a case into robbery with officers of the Federal Security Service as defendants.
Chikvin’s defence team attempted to appeal the arrest, having asked the court to release the Tax Service employee and place him under house arrest, but the court refused to come to this decision. Besides that, the defence team asked to carry out a part of the trial behind closed doors, as there’s information on Chikvin’s health, as well as health of his relatives, was going to be pronounced. So, the details on the Tax Service employee’s involvement in the crime are unknown.
CrimeRussia reported that the employees of the Federal Security Service were detained on July 4. There are officers of the special division Alpha, an employee of a special operations group Vympel, and 2 officers of ‘K’ directorate (‘banking’ department) of Russia’s Federal Security Service. The total of 7 persons was arrested. Other 8 escaped from the prosecution.
One theory is that the victims of the attack in early June were Chinese ‘encashers’. The victim who turned out to be an unemployed citizen of the southwest Moscow turned to the police. The next day, criminal case into robbery on an especially large scale (item 4 of article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) was initiated. Later, the case was rendered to the military investigative directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia. In July, operations into detention of those involved in the robbery were launched. They were carried out by forces of the Bureau for Internal Affairs of the Federal Security Service.
