According to the defense, the value of assets exceeds the damage in a criminal case exponentially.

The Basmanny District Court of Moscow arrested the property of former Open Government Minister Mikhail Abyzov, which cost was estimated at 20.629 billion rubles ($317.5m) by ex-official's lawyer Sergey Drozd. According to the lawyer, the value of assets exceeds the damage in a criminal case exponentially, TASS reports.

On July 10, the press service of the Basmanny district court of Moscow reported that the arrested assets of Abyzov were estimated at 121.7 million euros or 8.7 billion rubles. Real estate, securities, accounts of organizations are arrested. At the court hearing, Abyzov declared arbitrariness on the part of the investigation.

On April 1, the court seized the settlement accounts of the ex-Minister, which kept more than 437 million rubles. The next day, the court arrested two land plots and two residential buildings in the Moscow region, and three apartments, four rooms and one parking space in Moscow.

The investigation accuses Abyzov of organizing a criminal community (part 3 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and especially large-scale Swindling (part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). According to the state prosecution, the ex-Minister deceived the shareholders of Sibgenco and Regional Electric Networks OJSC and stole 4 billion rubles from companies and siphoned off money abroad.
