In Kabardino-Balkaria, three people fired at police and the FSB officers and were killed by the security forces. The regional ICR initiated a criminal case on illegal arms trafficking and infringement on lives of law enforcement officers (Article 317 CCRF, part 2 of Article 222 CCRF). The identities of the killed attackers are being established.
In the Maysky District of the republic, officers of the republican FSB and the Center “E” of the MIA’s Main Directorate for the North Caucasus Federal District tried to stop a VAZ-2107 for a check, but the driver and passengers opened fire with automatic rifles. None of the officers were injured.
Every big Russian city has ‘untouchable' people who are beyond the reach of the law enforcement authorities – generals, judges, mayors, etc. Despite overwhelming evidence sufficient to prosecute them, such persons cannot be busted without authorization from the federal center. There is also another type of corrupt officials: their deeds are well-known – but these people are so generous, hospitable, and understanding that no one is willing to arrest them.
