The Head of the Department of fighting organized crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus (GUBOPiPK) reported that investigative and operational work has been conducted against two large criminal groups active in the mid-90s and early 2000s.⁠

Recently, the Head of the GUBOPiPK gave an interview to the information portal Belarus Today, in which he told, among other things, about a significant increase of cooperation with Russian counterparts.

According to Nikolay Karpenkov, the joint efforts of law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation and Belarus "cut off the thieves in law’s way of retreat and overlay them from all sides." The policeman had in mind the personal decision of Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, according to which entry to Russia is forbidden to all Belarusian thieves in law, among them - Pavel Alekseevich (Pashtet), Alexander Medvedev (Medvezhonok), Oleg Gerasimovich (Mumu), Ruslan Lebedev (Lebed), Sasha Kushner, and also Galey.

In an interview with a journalist, Nikolay Karpenkov touched on the topic of high-profile Belarusian cold cases. In particular, the Head of the GUBOPiPK said that investigative and operational work has been conducted against two large criminal groups active in the mid-1990s and early 2000s. Several cases were identified and disclosed. For example, work is being carried out against the Russian gang of Amagov (Bespaly), who is now serving a sentence in the territory of the Russian Federation for the murder of a police officer. In addition, the facts of Chechen involvement in the contract killings of Belarusian criminal authority Sergey Shirokiy, nicknamed Botsman, in 1993, entrepreneurs Kharitonov and Ermolovich in Minsk in 1995 and authority Kornev (Koren), who also was killed in the capital of Belarus in 1997, appeared and established.
