State Duma deputy Valery Rashkin was confused by the Senator’s residence permit in the UAE and the 'Chechen' outcome in elections in Karachay-Cherkessia.

The head of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, Yury Chaika, was pointed at Senator Rauf Arashukov back in October 2018. In particular, State Duma Deputy Valery Rashkin was confused by the fact that the member of the Upper House of parliament had a residence permit in the UAE and by the 'Chechen' outcome in elections in Karachay-Cherkessia, a reporter with reports.

It was also then that State Duma Deputy Valery Rashkin sent a deputy request to verify information of the media about the possible involvement of Senator Arashukov in criminal offenses.

“There was a vague answer in which nothing specific was reported, except that in the cases of two murders, Arashukov was interrogated as a witness. Charges were not brought and procedural measures were not applied,” Rashkin told the publication.

According to him, it is not clear how the Federation Council let this happen concerning Arashukov.

“How did the control commission check Arashukov’s resident visa of the United Arab Emirates in 2017, which is essentially a residence permit?” Rashkin boiled over.

According to The CrimeRussia, last year the United Arab Emirates opened a criminal case against the Senator. According to investigators, Arashukov changed the dates in the document on a residence permit in the Emirates from 2017 to August 2016. It turns out that in September 2016, Arashukov could not be empowered as a member of the Federation Council.

Also, no one was surprised by the average Arashukov’s score in the three elections in Karachay-Cherkessia (98% of the votes), Rashkin continues. According to him, not only the President of Russia never dreamt about it, but also by the Crimean referendum on joining Russia.

In 2010, in the elections for the head of the district, Arashukov not only received 98.5% with a turnout of more than 93%, but also showed a 100% result at six of the fifteen polling stations. This is given the fact that his competitor did not receive any vote, there were not even spoiled ballots.

The deputy added that the Central Electoral Commission of Russia presented Arashukov with a certificate of acknowledgment for substantial assistance in organizing and holding the election campaign.

To recap, there was a detention of Karachay-Cherkessia Senator Rauf Arashukov on January 30 during a plenary meeting of the Federation Council right in the assembly hall, he is suspected of involvement in several murders and a number of other crimes.
