Arashukov deprived of 2 months’ salary in Federation Council
Ex-senator Rauf Arashukov has been left with no salary given to him by the Federation Council during the time he spent in the remand prison, reports Baza Telegram channel.
With that, after his detention in late January, 2019, court did not manage to dismiss him from the senator’s position: his defense team managed to appeal the decision. During the time he spent in the remand prison, he got salary worth of 600 thousand rubles ($9.3 thousand). However, the Federation Council decided not to transfer this money to his account, taking into consideration the fact that the Investigative Committee of Russia froze his accounts within the investigation.
The upper chamber offered Arashukov to take the money in the box office on his own or though his representative. However, the funds remained unclaimed until Arashukov was deprived of his senator’s powers: he did not provide his 2018 declaration of income on time. Thus, Moscow city court found it was legal to get these funds back to the budget.
The CrimeRussia had earlier reported Rauf Arashukov had been accused of participation in a criminal community, two murders and pressure on a witness. The ex-senator pleads not guilty. Now, he is in custody in the remand prison of Lefortovo.
