US court rejects Lebedev’s lawsuit against TNK-BP ex-owners for $2 billion
Leonid Lebedev

Lebedev plans to appeal this decision.

The court of New York rejected the suit of former Senator from Chuvashia Leonid Lebedev, filed with businessmen Viktor Vekselberg and Leonard Blavatnik, Bloomberg reports. Lebedev demanded from his former partners a portion of the proceeds from the sale of TNK-BP to Rosneft.

Lebedev claimed that he owed 3.75% of $55 billion, or about $2 billion of the TNK-BP price. Vekselberg and Blavatnik said they paid Lebedev transferring $600 million to Coral Petroleum, which he controlled. Lebedev insisted that he did not own this organization.

The court concluded that the agreement that Lebedev, Blavatnik, and Vekselberg reached was void and did not cover any compensation. Lebedev plans to appeal this decision.
