Number of dollar billionaires rises significantly in Russia
Well-being of ordinary citizens remained “modest.”
According to the results of the first half of the current year, the number of dollar billionaires has significantly increased in Russia. As of now, there are 110 people with a fortune of this level in the country.
A report by the Credit Suisse Research Institute says that in the first half of 2019, the number of dollar billionaires increased from 74 to 110, i.e., one and a half times. Also, the amount of dollar millionaires increased – from 172,000 to 246,000 people.
At the same time, Russia turned out to be the absolute leader in the level of inequality in the distribution of resources: 10% of citizens own 83% of all personal wealth. In the USA, the same proportion of citizens owns 76%, in China – 60%.
“Despite a modest level of well-being per capita of the adult population, the country is estimated to have 110 billionaires,” the report said.

Earlier it was reported that China overtook the United States in the number of dollar billionaires for the first time. Among the 10% of the world's wealthiest, there were 100 million Chinese, while in America the figure was 99 million.
