Sberbank Head Herman Gref announces oligarchs’ ouster from power
The banker shared his opinion with Rossiya 1 TV channel.
The Sberbank CEO, Herman Gref, said that Putin’s team had orchestrated the oligarchs' ouster. According to him, that happened in the 2000s, when Putin came to power.
The banker shared his opinion with Rossiya 1 TV channel. Gref also explained that “he was up against into oligarchs” in the early years of public service. He also complained that the oligarchs had had enormous power and control over the media.
“The only thing you could read about yourself was another fiction that oligarchs published in all mass media,” Gref shared his memories, stressing that he had no desire to live in a country “where the oligarchs command.”
Herman Gref served as Minister of Economic Development from 2000 to 2007. Before this, he was a member of the Ministry of State Property board.
