Funeral king and billionaire Igor Minakov dies in St.Petersburg
The media reports the cause of death was an extended illness.
Near Saint-Petersburg, one of the city’s richest entrepreneurs and billionaire Igor Minakov has died. He was 59. He passed away in the morning, on Friday, on December 21. He died in the town of Sestroretsk after an extended illness.
The CrimeRussia had earlier reported the entrepreneur had been considered a monopolist at the market of funeral arrangements in the capital of the North. In the late 1990s, real war for the control of the assets took place with 7 mortuary’s hospital attendants, 2 lawyers and an abbot of the Church of the Saint Righteous Martyr Elizaveta as victims. The bloody wars were terminated after the arrest of the ‘funeral king’ Valery Burykin and his gang’s members.
Coowner of a road contractor Mostostroy 6 Igor Minakov fell into his position.
In 1998, former police investigator founded a private security company Zashchita that worked with the city’s cemeteries. After that, he joined the owners of a Ritualnye uslugi company Valery Larkin - with the help of security agencies - and took Burykin’s seat at the market. At the present time, Minakov’s and Larkin’s structures own 90% of the St.Petersburg market of the funeral arrangements. According to the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service, this happened because of the ties with the municipal structures.
