Domodedovo co-owner hired Elton John and Mariah Carey for granddaughter's wedding
The luxurious event by Valery Kogan’s family in London was attended by a private plane of Russian and world stars.
Sir Elton John, singer Mariah Carey, and Hollywood actor Antonio Banderas became the highlights of the wedding of 19-year-old Irina Kogan, the granddaughter of Russian billionaire Valery Kogan, one of the owners of Domodedovo airport.
The celebration took place in the UK capital at the weekend. Irina’s chosen one is her peer, a Jew of English origin Daniel Kenvey, whom she had met in London, her place of residence and study.
Two years ago, Valery Kogan was 41th in the ranking of 200 richest businessmen of Russia, according to Forbes, his net reaching 2.5 billion dollars. The billionaire’s 36-year-old son Aleksandr Kogan is also known as a popular singer, who does spare expenses for promotion. For example, a few years ago, Kogan Jr. brought Julio Iglesias to Moscow as toastmaster for the presentation of own album.
According to media, the Kogan family own the most expensive mansion in the famous ‘billionaires’ den’ in Miami, the Indian Creek Island district. Even the local media have reported on the purchase of a luxury residence by a mysterious rich Russian, naming the deal price – 47 million dollars for the house and 21 million for the surrounding territory. The Kogan family also owns a large number of real estate in Israel.
Dozens of business elite representatives and an entire squad of show business stars arrived by private jets at the luxurious celebration of Kogan’s heiress to the Foggy Albion, including Filipp Kirkorov, Stas Mikhailov, Aleksandr Serov, Igor Nikolayev, Lev Leshchenko, opera diva Anna Netrebko, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbul oglu, film director Nikita Mikhalkov, and others. The wedding itself was celebrated at the famous The Landmark London in accordance with the precepts of Judaism: after the chuppah ceremony, guests moved to the banquet hall, where they could enjoy Anna Netrebko’s soprano. But the hour-performance of Sir Elton John, the bride’s idol, was the most highly anticipated. One of the most expensive contemporary artists (according to Western media, Sir Elton does not agree to perform at private parties for less than a million euros – Editor's note) sang 12 songs for the young granddaughter of the Russian oligarch.
But the result was worth it: the girl could not hold back the tears and cried on the shoulder of her newly made husband. "Thank you for inviting me to the most important day of your life, Irina! I wish you to have a lot of children!" Elton John said. Irina and Daniel also received tips and wishes for a happy family life from the famous actor Antonio Banderas.
Walking up onto the stage with a glass in his hand, the Hollywood sex symbol told the bride and groom to "always go hand in hand with each other." The final phrase uttered by the star was the traditional "Now a kiss", after which the couple merged in a kiss. During the star performance, the guests were treated to gastronomic masterpieces: tartare of yellow fin tuna, risotto of wild mushrooms and tarragon, seared sea bass with baby spinach and sturgeon caviar sauce, and roasted maize-fed chicken breast with herbs, puy lentils, and truffle sauce.
The final chord in the 9-hour celebration was the concert of Mariah Carey. However, the couple was already not there to spectate this – well into the night, refusing to wait for the appearance of another world celebrity, the couple went to rest in their suite.
However, the singer was not at all bothered by the absence of the celebration originators: Mariah dedicated one of her hits ‘We belong together’ to the newlyweds Irina and Daniel and wished them heirs.
