Deripaska became wealthier by $680 million since start of the year
Blacklisted by the US Treasury, Russian businessman Oleg Deripaska has become wealthier by $679 million since the beginning of 2019, his fortune thus reached $3.5 billion, analysts of Bloomberg calculated.
Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska has become richer by $680 million since the beginning of the year. According to experts, Deripaska’s capital increase is due to higher value of shares of his key asset - En + Group. The shares of this company have appreciated by more than 19% since the beginning of the year.
Still the oligarch should not rejoice, the article says. Since Deripaska is under personal US sanctions, his well-being can remain only on paper. The businessman is not eligible to receive dividends or sell shares without the permission of the US Treasury. Thus, Deripaska is unlikely to be able to sell his shares.
In late December, Bloomberg published data on the annual financial losses of the richest people in the world, according to which among Russian billionaires, 2018 was the most unfortunate for Oleg Deripaska. His fortune has decreased by $5.7 billion.
