Verkhovna Rada adopts law on castration of pedophiles
Those convicted of violence against minors will be entered in a public register.
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Paruby has signed a law on the castration of pedophiles and the creation of a public register of persons convicted under criminal articles related to sexual abuse of minors, according to the official website of the parliament. The document will be now sent for consideration to President Vladimir Zelensky.
“The project proposes chemical castration of pedophiles and rapists, which is already used in many European countries of the world and some American states. Criminals are given injections of special drugs that suppress libido,” the authors of the law wrote in an explanatory note.
Convicts aged from 18 to 65 will be subject to castration after serving a prison sentence. Just like in the United States, a list of those convicted of violence against minors will be created in Ukraine; it will be available to all citizens.
