Ukrainian who threatened to bomb bridge in Kiev surrenders to police
The detainee demanded to end the war in the Donbass.
A man who threatened to bomb a bridge in Kiev agreed to surrender to the police, raised his hands and lay on the ground, after which he was detained, TSN reports. By this time, special forces, covered by armored vehicles, entered the bridge. The detainee demanded an end to the war in the Donbass, said the head of the Kiev police Andrey Kryshchenko on the TV channel Pryamoy.
According to preliminary information, the failed demoman’s name is Alexey Belko. He participated in the ATO (anti-terrorist operation in the Donbass), was the head of the radio station of the radio center of the field communications center of military unit A 3628, located in Brovary, the Kiev Region. In June, Belko arbitrarily left the military unit, after which he was punished by a week-long arrest, and later dismissed from the military.
Investigators qualified the incident as preparation for a terrorist attack.
Ukrainskaya Pravda published a video from the scene with what was happening on the bridge before Belko’s detention.
