UFC tournament in Mexico ends in riots, trash and bottles thrown at US fighter

Mexicans went crazy after the main fight of the evening was waived off.

The main battle of the UFC tournament in Mexico City was declared invalid, after which the displeased audience began throwing bottles and other garbage at the fighters.

American MMA fighter Jeremy Stephens fought against Mexican Yair Rodriguez at the UFC Fight Night 159 tournament in Mexico City. At the very beginning of the fight, Rodriguez poked Stephens in the eye. The American tried to recover for several minutes, but could not. Doctors decided to wave off the fight. The bout was ruled a no contest.

Stephens's departure disappointed the audience, who booed the American and threw garbage, bottles, and popcorn at him. The guards had to protect the fighter with their bodies.

The Mexico City Arena, which hosted the UFC tournament, was attended by over 22 thousand spectators.
