UAE explains why they made vehicles accompanying Putin's motorcade look like Russian traffic police cars
Putin came to the UAE for an official meeting with Crown Prince Abu Dhabi Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan in an Aurus car Tuesday.
The cars colored as the Russian road patrol service and the abbreviation "DPS" in Russian (which stands for “traffic patrol”) accompanying the motorcade of Russian President Vladimir Putin is not an ordinary situation, RIA Novosti was told by the Russian embassy in Abu Dhabi.
"The Emirate party must have wanted to show extra attention making the reception even warmer and more welcoming for the head of the Russian state," the diplomatic mission said.
Putin came for an official meeting with Crown Prince Abu Dhabi Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan in an Aurus car Tuesday. As he was approaching the palace, the motorcade of the Russian president came to be accompanied by white Mercedes’ with emirate number plates and blue "DPS" written on them. The cars also had the flags and emblems of the two countries painted on the doors.
The president’s car, thus accompanied by the cavalry escort, drove up to the main entrance, when a fighter squadron flew over the palace, painting the sky the colors of the Russian flag. After that, the palace cannons fired 21 shots greeting the president.
