Trump considers US actions in Ukraine pointless
US President Donald Trump believes that Washington’s actions in Ukraine are meaningless and annoy Russia.
This is reported by TASS referring to The Washington Post.
A source of the American publication said that they had repeatedly discussed this topic with Trump. “The president’s position is that we need to recognize the fact that Russia should be our friend, and who even cares about Ukraine?” the publication cites its source.
The article also says that the American president is reluctant to set a specific date for a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky in Washington. At the same time, Trump's aides insist on holding this meeting.
Earlier on September 21, it was reported that during a press conference, a representative of the US administration got mixed up and called Ukraine the occupier of part of Russian territories. “President Trump and President Zelensky will discuss the importance of ensuring that all parties, including those who occupy Russian territories, adhere to the Minsk agreements,” the official said.
The meeting of Trump and Zelensky is scheduled for September 25 on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, which is being held in New York.
