Taken under convoy. Ex-President of Kirghizia turns himself in to authorities
Law enforcers have detained a former President of Kirghizia Almazbek Atambaev during the second storm of his residence in a village of Koy-Tash. Some media report that the politician has turned himself in to the Special Forces officers.
“The negotiations lasted for a long time. But it looks like Almazbek Atambaev finally turned himself in,” the local media Kaktus reports.
According to some reports, the ex-President is being taken under convoy comprised of a few vehicles. However, Atambaev’s supporters block the law enforcers. He is reportedly being taken to Bishkek via alternative routes.
The first storm of the ex-President’s house took place the day before, on August 7, but was not successful. More than 80 persons got injuries, one officer of the Special Forces died. The Prosecutor-General's Office clarified that the politician had not appeared for three MIA interrogations despite the fact that he had been summoned. So, the law enforcers were sent to take him.
