Seven-time kickboxing champion of Uzbekistan dies after street brawl
Three victims, including the athlete, turned to the hospital after the brawl.
Seven-time kickboxing champion of Uzbekistan, Muslimlimbek Omonov, died in Tashkent from injuries sustained in a street brawl, the capital’s Main Department of Internal Affairs reported. On the night of September 11, two groups of young people engaged in a fight at a local cafe in Yunusabad District, after which three of them turned to the hospital.
The doctors could not save Omonov, 23, who received stab wounds during the fight. The investigating authorities initiated a criminal case over intentional grievous bodily harm (part 3, paragraph “d”, Article 104 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan).
Omonov was a professional MMA fighter, won 10 of 11 fights, and took the gold medal in the Asian MMA championship.
