Scheme of illegal arms sales from Ukraine to Russia exposed
Besides that, head of Belarus’ customs office raised concerns about the fact that through the territory of his country, drug trafficking of prohibited substances intended to the Russian market is growing.
The State Customs Committee of the Republic of Belarus (GTK) and the State Security Committee (KGB) have exposed a scheme of illegal arms sales from Ukraine to Russia through the territory of the Republic.
Representative of GTK Yury Senko told Belarus 1 TV-channel that the weapons are being transferred from Ukraine through Lithuania, and from there - after huge lots are formed - to the Russian Federation.
Besides that, the head of the Belarus’ customs office reported that after the special operation was over, a huge number of firearms was found. Russian special services seized automatic rifles, guns, shoulder arms and around 9 thousand of ammunition.
Senko also reported about the growth of the drug trafficking through the Belarus’ border. This year, 626 kg of narcotic drugs were seized - as compared with 155 kg in 2018. He suggested that almost all drugs were intended to receivers from Russia and Russian drug dealers were detained.
Earlier, President of Belarus Aleksander Lukashenko stated that the Republic had to close its border with Ukraine tightly due to the stream of firearms that had come down. Later, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Stanislav Zas clarified the head of the Republic’s statement, having said that it was not about the border closure, but its “improvement.”
